Cultural Arts Assemblies!

Cultural Arts Assemblies for Theatre and Dance

We have three exciting Cultural Arts Assemblies scheduled for the rest of the year:

January 29 @ 9, 10 (K-3 ONLY): Native Beginnings: Storyteller David Guerra embraces the audience with three distinct Native American stories from the Pueblo, Lakota Plains, and Iroquois cultures. Children are invited to participate in these traditional tales featuring such lively characters as the Coyote, Grandmother Spider and the Flying Head.

February 7 @ 11 (4-5 ONLY): “John and Juan”: A lively romp through the history of the Golden State. John, a native Californian, learns from the immigrant Juan about the State’s Hispanic heritage, including early Spanish explorers, the original settlers of El Pueblo de Los Angeles, and Father Junipero Serra, the Chumash Indians, and the missions along El Camino Real…and John shares with Juan the excitement of the Gold Rush.

April 15 @ 9, 10, 11: Backhausdance: Beautifully trained dancers with an eclectic and dynamic dance vocabulary explore modern themes through athletic, lyrical, contemporary movement to create meticulously sculpted dance works. They will perform “Physical Science Moves” which demonstrates science concepts using excerpts from the piece “The Elasticity of the Almost” to explore our ability to negotiate a constantly changing environment.
