Battle of the Books 4th/5th Grade Competition

Battle of the Books Competition on April 5 from 1:45-3:45 in the Cafeteria. All are welcome to watch!!

Please come to support our 4th and 5th grade Battle of the Books contestants as they compete in three events: Family Feud, a written competition, and a relay. These students have been going above and beyond! They meet before school twice a month, and have read at least 12 of 36 chapter books to be able to compete in the school-wide event.

The winner of the Washington competition will go on to compete at the District competition on April 26.

Walking School Bus and International Walk to School Day

Enroll your child in the Walking School Bus program before Oct. 5 and your child will be eligible for prizes throughout the year for participating. Children who participated last year must re-register for the 2016-17 school year. For every child you enroll in the WSB program, you will receive one FREE Admission to AdventurePlex (including children re-registering from last year).

More WSB route information and your neighborhood route maps will be distributed next week.  Click here to enroll or re-register now.

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY 
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5

  • All students who walk to school on Oct. 5 will receive a medal upon entering school’s campus.
  • The classroom with the greatest percentage of walkers on will receive the Golden Shoe Award.
  • Students who walk will be entered into a raffle for prizes.

If you are not enrolled in a WSB route, please consider driving to a friend’s house near school and walking from there.

Washington families have been extremely supportive of PTA fundraising efforts this year, and as a result, the PTA is providing a bunch of really awesome gifts to all the teachers and staff, including breakfast and lunch!

Here are some little things you can do that your teacher will appreciate in big ways!

Monday: Visit the PTA bulletin board to see our super hero teachers in action.
Tuesday: Bring your teacher her favorite flower.
Wednesday: Write a Thank You card to let your teacher know you appreciate her.
Thursday: Share your awesome smile with your teacher.
Friday: Wear your teacher’s favorite color.
